An archive of the future
The Black Film Center & Archive regularly presents scholarly talks, discussions, and film screenings that are held on the Indiana University campus and online. We center people of African descent as innovators in film history by providing opportunities for the campus and wider community to see unique films and hear filmmakers, scholars, and others speak directly about their work.
Some of our most powerful contributions to campus life have included the presentation of visiting artists who breathe new life into archival materials through experimental and independent contemporary art. Partnerships with the IU Cinema, Jacobs School of Music, Grunwald Gallery, and IU Libraries Moving Image Archive support our mission to connect people with our collections and create future film histories.
